Being a wedding photographer in Kent means that I get to visit some amazing wedding venues that the county has to offer. Many of these are well known and prime dates are booked years in advance, so it is nice to come across upcoming venues that offer something a bit different, it is even nicer to be their in house photographer.

The Dreys is a beautiful woodland wedding venue in an area of outstanding natural beauty in Kent, only 40 minutes from London, with easy access from the M2 and M20.

Back in the 60`s Jackie`s dad bought, 8o acres of woodland. Originally intending to use it as a place to ride motor bikes he fell in love with it and decided he wanted it to remain as nature intended. Aside from clearing a few areas of woodland to create natural meadows he left the site very much unchanged. It is these areas of now thriving natural meadows that are used for parking, camping, and celebrating.

The main barn is licensed for weddings and is situated in the main meadow, allowing mother nature to play her role creating a seasonal backdrop for your dream wedding. If you prefer to be in amongst the trees, and an occasional squirrel, there is a beautiful area created in the woods for blessings to take place.  There are several other buildings that can be hired including the amazing wood cutters lodge that will make a great retreat for the bride and groom on their first night as a married couple. Other guests may choose to pitch a tent or hire one of the available bell tents. If you don`t fancy a tent why not really do the whole glamping thing and hire one of 2 lovely shepherd’s huts. There is also a communal shower block with hot and cold running water.

The Dreys woodland wedding venue is not for everyone, not everyone wants to remove themselves from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, unwind and get married in an ancient woodland setting but for those that do it is a very special place, a place once discovered and immersed into, you will not want to leave. A calming, peaceful place, respecting of nature just as Jackie`s dad wished it to be.

As the in-house photographer at the Dreys I will be photographing weddings at the venue as well as recording the surroundings throughout the year as the seasons change so please follow me on facebook and share my pictures. You can also like and follow the Dreys here
