Barn and surroundings at the Dreys

The Dreys is at it`s heart a simple venue and yet at the same time as complex as mother nature herself. Each season brings forth its own canvas of colour and textures, from the harsh edgy feel of winter to the soft regeneration of spring.

With the first wedding of the year booked at the Dreys in a few weeks’ time I wanted to do a bridal shoot amongst the amazing carpet of spring anemones before they disappeared making way for the abundance of bluebells.

With the anemones, out and the bluebells on the way I needed to take advantage of the lovely April sunshine. I called on my lovely niece Zoe to model for me, Zoe is a working mum who has never done any modelling before so I knew I would get the natural look I was looking for. Being a tiny size 8 the dress was going to be a problem at short notice so I called in to Bridal Gowns at Jodi for some much-needed help.

With a mood board created and some images captured from Pinterest I arrived at Jodi`s early Tuesday morning to find the shop busy with fittings and sales. I am eternally grateful to the Nichola and the rest of the staff for spending some valuable time with me and helping choose a couple of dresses from their vast range. With 2 beautiful dresses chosen I was hoping the weather would hold.

Sometimes even with the right planning, getting everything and everyone in the right place at the right time and having the right weather can be very much in the lap of the gods.

On the day of the shoot I could not have wished for better weather with it being one of the warmest days of the year so far. Zoe arrived on time with Sam, who had agreed to do her make-up for the planned bridal photo shoot. Jo from the Dreys styling team was on hand with some amazing flowers and ferns which are very much on trend this year.

The main purpose of the shoot was to show off the stunning surroundings at the Dreys so that potential brides can get an idea of how the Dreys looks through the various seasons of the year. We would be making use of the various locations available to showcase some spectacular photography opportunities. I was also looking for opportunities to highlight the dresses from Bridal Gowns at Jodi as well as capturing some beautiful bridal portraits of Zoe.
